12/2009 (Left Top) The 14 winners - TBS hosted a children's artwork contest for a 2010 fundraising calendar at Georgia F. Morris Elementary School. Teachers submitted over 250 pictures created by students. Fourteen were selected for the calendar, and there were 36 honorable mentions. Celebrity actress Camille Winbush and world renown artist Charles Bibbs attended the event. 6/2009 Ed McMahon 86, died on June 23, 2009. He hosted a variety of shows over the years from "Star Search" to "TV Bloopers", but he was most known for his work with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show". Ed was a supporter of TBS and really loved the kids. We will miss him, so very much. |

5/2009 Hooray to California State Senator, Darrell Steinberg who authored five years ago the Foster youth education bill AB-490. This bill has assisted in changing the lives of children in the foster care system. Senator Steinberg received an award from the California Foster Youth Education Summit in Sacramento, CA. He was also given the privilege of wearing a "Superman Cape." |

Thirteen San Bernardino County women were recognized by state legislators for their accomplishments at the 2009 Woman of the Year Awards luncheon on Friday, March 13 in Ontario. Held during Women's History Month, the awards luncheon was sponsored by State Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod, 32nd District, Assembly Member Norma J. Torres, District 61, and Assembly Member Wilmer Amina Carter, District 62. About 110 guests attended. "We use this opportunity to celebrate some of the wonderful women in our district," said Sen. McLeod (D-Chino). She said that the event is expected to be an annual one to honor more of the unsung women in East San Bernardino County. "In tough economic times, we look to these women as role models for civic leadership and excellence in community service," Assembly Member Carter said. "Many have committed themselves to giving back to their community through their work as volunteers," said Assembly Member Torres (D-Pomona). The honorees were nominated by their legislators and city mayors. |
